Mariano Pensotti's, born in 1973 in Buenos Aires, first love was cinema and video: he received international scholarships for his films El camino del medio (1994) and Soñar lobos y Jirafas (1996). However, these last few years he has been mainly active as a theatre director and playwright. In 2004 he created together with Beatriz Catani Los Muertos, a production which opened at the Berlin Hebbel Theatre. Other performances by him are, among others, Vapor (2004), El Río (2004), Ojos Ajenos (2000), Trieste (2001) and Los 8 de Julio (2002). Several of his texts have been translated into English, Italian, German, French and Polish. Pensotti is also ‘Resident Director of Dramatic Arts’ at the Instituto Universitario Nacional de Artes in Buenos Aires. Pensotti's cinematic street performance La Marea, premiered during the Buenos Aires International Festival in 2005, has been staged in Brussels and Berlin since. After Riga version, La Marea will travel to Dublin and Rouen.
