Florian von Hoermann has studied theatre and film directing at Athanor Akademie Burghausen, and finished his studies with the staging of Jean Genet. From 2000 to 2003 he has made several short films and scripts, worked as cameraman assistant and created video projections for Salzburger Landestheater and Lion Opera. Since 2003 Hoermann is permanently working at the Schauspielfrankfurt. He has staged the play by Fernando Arrabal Architect and the Emperor of Assyria (2005), the collage of texts by Kafka, Dostoyevsky, Artaud and other authors kain! (2006), the tragedy Oresteia by Aeschylus (2006) and Paul Zech’s play on Artur Rimbaud life and works The Drunken Boat (2007) together with set designer Rudolf Bekic. Florian has got an interest to get closer to Latvian theatre and to work with Latvian actors while assisting Alvis Hermanis for productions of The Ice in Germany (at Schauspielfrankfurt and Ruhr Triennial). His newest production of Froth on the Daydream will open the festival Homo Novus 2007 and further on will be on the repertory of the Valmiera Theatre at the Round Stage.
